Zapier AI Agents Pricing (2026): What’s Included vs What Costs Extra

Bottom line
In 2026 there are two different things called “AI agents” at Zapier, priced completely differently. AI agents you build inside a Zap are now included in your plan and run on ordinary task-based pricing. Zapier’s standalone products — Agents and Chatbots — are separate paid add-ons (standalone Agents from $33.33/month, Chatbots from $13.33/month). Knowing which one you’re using is what keeps the bill from surprising you.

Short answer: In 2026 there are two different things called "AI agents" at Zapier, priced completely differently. AI agents you build into a Zap workflow are now included in your plan and run on ordinary task-based pricing. Zapier's standalone products — Agents and Chatbots — are separate paid add-ons with their own plans (standalone Agents from $33.33/month, Chatbots from $13.33/month). Knowing which one you're using is the whole game.

The 2026 change you need to know

Zapier used to meter AI features separately. As of 2026, its own pricing page now states two things plainly [Zapier pricing]:

  • "Now included in your plan: AI agents you can build into Zap workflows."
  • "AI steps, code, and SDK now all follow the same task-based pricing model."

So if you add an AI step or an AI agent inside a Zap, it simply consumes tasks like any other action — no separate subscription. This is why older guides (including an earlier version of ours) that said "Zapier AI Agents cost $33.33/month extra" are now only half right: that price is for the standalone Agents product, not for AI inside your Zaps.

“Two different things called “AI agents” at Zapier are priced completely differently.”

The hidden cost: you can end up paying three meters

Here's the trap. Zapier's core plan bills by tasks. Standalone Agents bill by activities. Standalone Chatbots bill by number of bots. These are three separate meters that stack on top of each other. A team running Zaps, a couple of standalone Agents, and a few Chatbots could be paying a Professional plan plus Agents Pro plus Chatbots Pro — three subscriptions at once. Before buying a standalone add-on, check whether an AI step inside a Zap (included) does the job instead.

Which should you actually pay for?

  • Most people: nothing extra. If you just want AI inside your automations, build the AI step into a Zap — it's included and bills as tasks. Start on the free plan and upgrade only when tasks run out.
  • Standalone Agents (from $33.33/mo): worth it only if you need autonomous AI teammates that act on their own outside a single Zap, at meaningful volume (past 400 free activities).
  • Chatbots (from $13.33/mo): worth it if you specifically need customer-facing chatbots embedded on a website with lead capture — Pro is the first tier that lets you embed and collect leads.

Who should NOT buy these add-ons

  • Don't buy standalone Agents just to add AI to a workflow — that's included inside Zaps. You'd be paying twice.
  • Don't buy Chatbots Advanced for the logo removal alone — at $66.67/mo it's a steep jump; only worth it at real chatbot volume.
  • Don't stack add-ons before measuring usage — the free tiers (400 activities, 2 chatbots) are enough to test whether you need them at all.

How Zapier's AI pricing compares

Zapier's advantage is that in-Zap AI is now genuinely included. The catch is the separate meters for its standalone AI products, which get expensive when stacked. If AI is central to your automations and cost matters, it's worth comparing: Make bundles AI actions into its ordinary operations/credits rather than charging a separate activities meter, which is often cheaper at volume. See Zapier vs Make and the three-way comparison, or the best Zapier alternatives if the add-on stack is pushing your bill up.

Paying separate meters for AI adds up fast. Make bundles AI into its regular pricing — and starts free.

Frequently asked questions

Are Zapier AI agents free?

AI agents you build into a Zap workflow are included in your plan and run on task-based pricing — no separate fee. Zapier's standalone Agents product has a free tier (up to 400 activities/month), with Agents Pro at $33.33/month for up to 1,500 activities.

How much do Zapier AI Agents cost?

The standalone Agents product is free up to 400 activities/month; Agents Pro is $33.33/month (billed annually) for up to 1,500 activities; Agents Enterprise is custom. AI agents built into Zaps are included in your regular plan instead.

How much does Zapier Chatbots cost?

Chatbots Free covers 2 chatbots; Chatbots Pro is $13.33/month (billed annually) for 5 chatbots with embedding and lead capture; Chatbots Advanced is $66.67/month for 20 chatbots and logo removal; Custom is quote-based.

What is an "activity" in Zapier Agents?

An activity is one automated behavior a standalone agent performs. It's a different meter from a "task" (used by Zaps), so standalone Agents usage is tracked separately from your Zap plan.

Do I need to pay extra for AI in my Zaps?

No. AI steps and AI agents built into Zap workflows are included and simply consume tasks. You only pay extra if you use the standalone Agents or Chatbots products.

Is Zapier's AI cheaper than Make's?

It depends on usage. Zapier includes in-Zap AI but charges separate meters for standalone Agents and Chatbots. Make bundles AI actions into its regular operations/credits, which is often cheaper at volume. See our Zapier vs Make comparison.
